"Google Pay Introduces Bank-Free Payments: Here's How It Works"
Google Pay is transforming digital payments in India by introducing a new feature that allows users to make UPI payments without a bank account. This development brings digital transactions within reach for millions who either lack a bank account or prefer an alternative to bank-linked payments. Here’s a quick overview of this exciting new option.
Digital payments in India have surged in recent years, yet many people remain on the sidelines due to limited access to banking or reluctance to link their personal financial details to online platforms. Recognizing this gap, Google Pay has introduced a feature that enables UPI payments without a traditional bank account, enhancing accessibility for all.
How It Works: The eRUPI Voucher System
The key to this feature lies in the UPI Voucher system, known as eRUPI:
eRUPI: This is a prepaid digital coupon linked to the user’s mobile number, making a bank account unnecessary. Users can receive money directly via eRUPI vouchers and make secure, convenient transactions without needing bank linkage. This system is tailored to the needs of Indian users, providing a safe and straightforward way to engage in digital payments.
Delegation Options: Google Pay also offers two delegation options that allow primary users to share some spending flexibility with secondary users, such as family members:
Partial Delegation: Secondary users can request payments, but transactions require the primary user’s approval.\nFull Delegation: Primary users set a monthly spending limit, enabling secondary users to make transactions within that limit without additional approvals.
By offering a bank-free payment option and flexible delegation, Google Pay is expanding digital access and encouraging more people to experience the benefits of online financial transactions.
